Like the streets of Paris, it’s tough to imagine Chiswick without its café culture. Such is the number and proximity of coffee shops around Chiswick High Road and Turnham Green that caffeine connoisseurs are flocking to the area in droves. It’s also within a three-minute train trip from our burgeoning riverside community at Riverside TW8 near Kew Bridge on the River Thames.
In no particular order, we've chosen our top three coffee shops around the area of Chiswick.
Chief Coffee
Just a 4 minute walk from Turnham Green Station*
Just a short walk from Turnham Green, Chief Coffee is a fresh, new specialty coffee shop molding itself into the relaxed demeanor of Chiswick. With casual weekend vibes and a pinball room to feed fidgety fingers, Chief Coffee will nestle nicely into the local culture of Chiswick. The smell of fresh Crodoughs (Cronuts) from their resident baker functions as a warm hearth in the corner of a remote countryside pub.
Outsider Tart
Just a 7 minute walk from Turnham Green Station
Outside Tart is an authentic American bake shop and café, established by two expat professionals, who thought kale-eating hipsters could do with rather healthy-sized portions of baked goods. Let’s face it, eating gluten-free brownies and flaxseed is more a lifestyle choice than a treat for the palette. So needless to say, Chiswick has welcomed these North American “tarts” with open arms. Check out the café’s quirky interior and their recipe book “Baked in America” if you’d like to emulate great baking yourself.
Tamp Coffee
Just a 6 minute walk from Turnham Green Station
While our first two café choices embody the best of Chiswick coffee culture, Tamp Coffee is more of a no frills, core coffee making artisan. With an earth-toned, rustic interior that looks like it was designed by a Scandinavian lumberjack, you’re guaranteed a coffee made with a passion for the process as well as the taste for good coffee. Most importantly, they have their very own resident dog, named Simba.
